This artwork is made by capturing arial footage from the forests in Vermont, US then deleting much of it and then having the computer guess as to what was there.
The process is both generative and iterative - this particular piece went through a total of 18 iterations to land here.

About the artist
Josh Rigling (b. 1986) is a conceptual artist with a concentration in internet art projects. His work has been exhibited and collected throughout the world since 2008, with special exhibitions at the Venice Biennale, Satellite in Miami USA and the New Museum in NYC USA.
Rigling's contemporary series explore the translation between Algorithmic and Human Arts.
